I wondered when someone was going to get killed in this mad rush of greed to get the b est deal , last year someone almost git killed in the rush ,, like you I&#039;m all for free enterprise and people shopping ,, BUT they really do need to rethink this 5 items per store and find a better way to start the shopping season

I have to say i really do not think the Government should get involved in this. Nation wide there was on death as a result of Blackfriday. The shooting, my understanding is it was a personal matter and happened to happen on Black friday in a retail store. So we have one death, how many deaths are associated with New Years or Halloween, should we have the government band them? Bad things happen and it is ultimately the retailers problem but more importantly the crowds. I seriously hope the forensically find every foot that stepped on that Man and charge each of those people with manslaughter. Those people are guilty of bad behavior. Why punish everyone nationwide for what a few nuts did?

Oh, I am all for limited government..!!

I am kind of giving a warning that if retailers do not do something on their own, our new &quot;feel good&quot; government will do it for them.

As I said in the post above, during President Carter, they outlawed &quot;festival seating&quot; at rock concerts.

If you gave away free time with your business to the first 5 people who called in, and you found out that guys were breaking their fingers hitting redial, you would feel bad- right..!!

Wal- Mart might rethink this &quot;rush and grab&quot; idea after being sued.

No government control needed..

When I heard about the worker getting killed I was appalled. Personally, those idiotic 6 hour sales from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. should become a thing of the past and hopefully Walmart and the other like-minded merchants will stop the insanity on their own and preclude the government from sticking their noses into the mix (unlikely, but one can hope). Friday after Thanksgiving has always been busy enough without compounding the problem. Make it a 24 hour sale instead - let people come in at decent hours. (My father actually went to Walmart yesterday but when he got there at 4 a.m. he turned around and went back home - the parking lot was already 2/3 full and he heard from someone that they had started camping out there at 1 a.m.

Regarding the Rosie &quot;variety show&quot;. I didn&#039;t watch it - I&#039;m not watching much TV these days - just a choice to spend my time in other ways - but I did catch one commercial the other day and wondered if someone at NBC actually has a network death wish. There she was, acting all sweetness and light, like it was back in 2000 when she was still fooling people about her personality. Anyway, when I saw it had been on I read the stories about how bad it was and had to laugh out loud. Then when I saw her guests I REALLY had to laugh. Kathy Griffin and Alec Baldwin? I mean, wasn&#039;t Rosie already enough of an angry hateful left-wing knucklehead - they had to add two more? I don&#039;t call that much of a variety, that&#039;s for sure.

If you want to resurrect variety shows you (1) get someone with enough talent and personality to actually host a show from week to week - a very hard proposition in this day and age I&#039;m afraid); (2) you get talented writers to write funny skits that aren&#039;t political (leave that to SNL - they still do it better than anyone); (3) you get decent musical acts; and (4) you let everyone escape from the bad news for 60 minutes, not add to the angst. Unless someone can clone Carol Burnett I think they&#039;ll have a hard time making a variety show successful in this day and age.

We can&#039;t get Sonny and Cher because Sonny has passed on and Cher is a mummy.

Glenn Cambell is in and out of jail.

And the Osmonds have boarded the Mother Ship and on their journey to Planet X.

OK, maybe I am wrong about the Osmonds.

There is no one who could do a variety show.</description>
